Minibeasts
This term, our World Around Us topic is Minibeasts! Children will become young explorers as they search for tiny creatures in our local environment, learning to observe and identify a variety of minibeasts and their habitats. They’ll discover what these animals need to survive, investigate simple life cycles, and even carry out a fun experiment to see where minibeasts like to live. Through hands-on activities and outdoor learning, pupils will build curiosity about the natural world and develop their skills in observation, questioning, and recording what they find.
The Arts
This term, our Primary 3 pupils are exploring the fascinating world of minibeasts through Art and Design. Children will develop their creativity by observing real-life insects, inventing their own imaginative creatures, and experimenting with textures, colours, and materials. Inspired by the work of author-illustrator Eric Carle, they will create their own collage-style artwork using painted paper techniques. The unit encourages personal expression, careful observation, and hands-on fun, culminating in a class exhibition where children proudly share their creations.
